Continuous casting appts of improved output capacity - by lining surfaces in contact with liq metal with a highly heat conductive material eg copper (alloys)

Appts. e.g. a continuous casting roll with a case cooled by a water circuit issuing into grooves formed in its exterior surface, and a collar of high mechanical and thermal shock resistant material, has a 0.5 - 5 mm layer of highly heat conductive material e.g. Cu or Al (alloys) on the surface of the collar in contact with the liq. cast metal. The heat conductive layer may be applied to other pasts of continuous casting appts. e.g. the walls of a water-cooled ingot mould.
