1413577 2-Mercaptobenzimidazole BAYER AG 18 Jan 1973 [18 Jan 1972] 2575/73 Heading C2C 2-Mercaptobenzimidazole is prepared by reacting o-phenyllnediamine with CS 2 in a solvent which dissolves all the reactants and reaction products, extracting the 2-mercaptobenzimidazole with dilute aqueous alkali hydroxide, and precipitating it therefrom with acid. Suitable solvents are benzothiazole and alkylbenzothiazoles.
