1404244 Recovering metals from ores ANACONDA CO 6 March 1973 [7 March 1972 10 April 1972 23 June 1972 27 Oct 1972] 10689/73 Heading C1A Copper, zinc or nickel are recovered from sulphidic ores containing iron sulphide by a process wherein the ore is treated by froth flotation to form a primary concentrate which is (i) subjected to leaching with an aqueous solution of ammonium hydroxide and ammonium sulphate in the presence of free oxygen at a temperature of from 50-80‹ C., a pressure of 10 p.s.i.g. whilst recirculating the oxygen bearing gas into the solution, (ii) separating the undissolved solids from the aqueous leach solution containing the metal complexes with ammonia, (iii) treating the leach solution for recovery of the metals, (iv) subjecting the separated solids to a secondary flotation operation to produce a secondary sulphide concentrate, rich in desired metal values and (v) treating said concentrate by leaching or smelting or other method to recover the metal values therein.
