An epoxy resin compsn. contains =1 of fluoranthene, pyrene, alkylfluoranthenes of formula (I) and alkylpyrenes of formula (II) where R is 1-4C alkyl, x is 1-4 and when x is =2, the R's may be same or different. It is used as an electrical insulator for high voltage applications. The compsn. has low viscosity, good processability, a high dielectric breakdown voltage and thermal shock resistance.
