These compounds may be prepared by reacting a corresponding N-hydroxyalkylnicotinamide with p-XC 6 H 4 OCMe 2 COCl. Additionally, the N- oxides may be made by oxidation. Therapeutic compositions having hypolipaemic and hypocholesteraemic activity comprise compounds of the above formula and are preferably administered orally.
