The specified composition comprises dibenzothiazyl disulphide as retardant, zinc dibutyl dithiocarbamate as ultraaccelerator and dibutyl ammonium oleate as activator. The compositions may be extruded and then vulcanized at atmosphere pressure in an aqueous curing medium at about 100‹ C. In Fig. 1, a rubber composition is supplied as a continuous band into extruder 10, the head of which is provided with inlet 18 for supplying hot water to the hollow space of the extruded article. The article passes into a double open insulated trough 20 filled with water, kept slowly boiling by steam tubes 22. Means may be provided for circulating the water in the bath in the extrusion direction.
