This rolling mill is equipped with at least two rolls, one roll consisting of an axial carrier supporting hydrostatic elements on which a roll barrel can rotate, the hydrostatic elements exerting pressure in the direction of the other roll. At least one of the rolls is designed so that it is less rigid in the radial direction at its ends than in the middle portion of the roll, i.e. so the ends can flex. The rotating roll barrel pref. has a reduced wall-thickness at both ends as compared with the wall-thickness in the middle portion, whereas the other roll contains annular grooves at both ends, thus permitting the end sections of the roll to flex. A more uniform pressure-distribution is obtd. across the roll.
