The method involves determining a height of a roller gap (300) depending on a thickness of each roller packet (100, 200) of a multi-roller stand (1). The thickness of each roller packet is set in a relation to a distance of the fixed point from a band plane of a metal band to be rolled with respect to the fixed point, where the relation is a measure for the height of the roller gap. The thickness of each roller packet is defined by roller points that form an end of the roller gap in working rolls. An independent claim is also included for a multi-roller frame e.g. reducing roll stand for a cold rolling mill.
