A moulding sand mixer has separate inlets for the sand, the binder, the hardener and for compressed air. A horizontal disc which can be rotated by an electric motor faces another stationary disc; both have annular protruding lips, offset relative to another, so that the mixture has to traverse a zigzag path to reach the periphery and the discharge. A mixer of this design requires less space than conventional sand mixers. It can be operated by less personnel and is free from jamming by adhering particles.
