New spiroindanepyrrolidines of formula (I) and acid addition salts: (where R1 = H, lower alkyl, F, Cl, Br or CH3O, R2 = H, lower Alkyl, CL or CH3O, or R1+R2 are together methylenedioxy, R3 = OH, lower alkylcarbonyloxy or alkylcarbamoyloxy) are prepd. by reacting the corresp. sprio indan-1,3'-pyrrolidine (II) with a cpd. of formula (III): (where X = Cl, Br, I or the residue of an organic sulphonic acid) in which the keto gp. is protected as ketal, thioketal or oxothioketal, then removing the protecting gp. (I) has props as in parent patent.
