Perforated building-block assembled balcony parapet - with blocks in rows with gaps, and holes providing reinforcing-bar channel

The parapet or balustrade, esp. on a balcony, is assembled from a number of builcinb-blocks, of ceramic material or concrete, (11) laid in rows one above another with intervals formed. These are provided with holes (18), which meet when they are superimposed to form a continuous channel for the accommodation of reinforcing rods (14) which run over the whole height of the parapet and project beyond it on the underside. Each of the building-blocks may have an open cutout (15) on the side facing the next block alongside, or on both vertical sides, so that these converge to form a symmetrical hole in the assembled unit. The blocks may also have interlocking projections (17) and recesses (16) on their vertical sides, to provide an easily assembled, secure and weatherproof construction.
