Balanced gear transmission unit without high shaft reaction forces - two parallel gear trains drive output pinion diametrically opposed to cancel shaft reaction forces
The input shaft (3) from the drive motor (1) carries two worm gears (4, 5) of opposite thread direction that are each in mesh with pinion gears (10, 20) which rotate in the same direction. Each pinion is coupled by a shaft to smaller pinions (22, 12) that individually drive roller gears (13, 23). The idler gears are coupled by a shaft to smaller pinions (15, 25) that mesh with an internal pinion gear (19) mounted directly on the output shaft. The two worm gears generate rotation of the output shaft in the same direction and size the drive gears (15, 25) are diametrically opposite each other the reaction forces on the shaft are essentially negligible.
