Lapidation of skewed jewelry-process chariot and product, uses a chariot (2) bearing a spindle (14) which in turn supports the workpiece (66) to effect manipulation of the workpiece in rotation, translation and sweeping motions against the polishing disc (70). The arrangement ensures the cinematic interdependence between spindle rotation and sweeping motions: the rotational position of the spindle determining the inclination of the spindle axis w.r.t. the direction of chariot translation with this inclination constituting the sweep. Pref. synchronization of spindle rotation and sweep is effected by twin cams (46, 60) cut from conical or spherical elements locating on the spindle rear and bearing on the fixed supported rollers (44, 58).
