The vertical axis is controlled by the carriage of the unit which is mounted on a roller track turntable. A inclined turntable platform is similarly mounted on a roller turntable on the first carriage. The reflector is capable of movement in the vertical direction about an axis. Measuring devices provide information of the elevation and azimuth positions. When a reference azimuth position is set the control system ensures related motion about both drive. A similar procedure occurs when elevation is changed. The inclined axis may be parallel to the earths axis.
