The mechanism incorporates a beam brake with horizontally swivelling shanks pressed apart by spring action as laterally mounted brake skids on rolling stock run into it, a stop being carried with the vehicle over a set distance and further compressing the springs until the vehicle is halted. There is a brake venting device to press the beams apart against prestressed spring force. The shanks swivel on fixed rods at one end, the other ends being interconnected by hinge units, prongs and a common spring housing with sockets for slide bolts and set screws. The stop is an emergency buffer acting on the housing via a helical spring. The spreader arms engaging the ends of the shanks have a common hinge unit which is engaged by the thruster level of the electrohydraulic venting unit.
