For cladding or fixing coverings on any surface such as a wall or ceiling, the assembly consists of a main rail, to be attached to the surface being covered, and a bracing rail swivelling on it between open and closed positions, with connecting members to bolt it in the closed position. The individual elements forming part of the bracing rail, pref. at intervals, can swivel on the main rail, with the flexible strip set onto them and shaped to accommodate an edge of the covering. Flexible strip and elements may be joined by projections and grooves. Durable fixing is simplified, and overall constant stretching of the covering material is achieved.
