Acid gas component (HF, SO2 and SiF4) are removed from gas stream by contacting with nepheline syenite of particle size 4-500 mesh which has been pretreated with water (pref. 10-50 lbs/100 lbs. nepheline syenite). Process is pref. carried out at 100-400 degrees F and space velocity of gas stream is 102-107 hr.-1.
