The packing is for the preparation of a cup of coffee using a metered amount of powder sealed into a filter bag. In the filler area of the bag a sealed coffee powder chamber is provided, for opening immediately before use. The chamber can be in the form of a round-based trough or a hollow cylinder, or a flat bag, and provided with a suspension thread, also weakened lines for tearing open. The tear-open section can have on its underside a punch for piercing the base of the bag, which can be of Al foil. This allows the coffee powder to enter the lower filter bag portion of the assembly.
