Raw water from wells and similar sources is purified for human consumption in an installation in which the feed water is diluted with a predetermined quantity of purified water, and after passing through pressurised filter beds goes to an open aeration process before passing a secondary filter and being pumped into the town mains. The addition of already purified water ensures sufficient O2 for removing the Fe and the filter beds contng. marble and dolomite gravel remove the excess CO2.
