Deacidifying natural waters very high in carbon-dioxide - esp. waters having low carbonate hardness, in wave-line baffle columns

Surface and spring water having a great excess of CO2 over and above that necessary for a chalk-carbonate equilibrium, is deacidified by running it through a waveline column in intimate contact with the atmosphere. The column comprises baffle packages of corrugated and ribbed plates of plastic matl., spaced out at definite distances apart, possibly with a perforated distributor plate between each package. These are assembled in an angle iron frame, with guide plates turning spillage inwards. The appts. is simple, takes up little space, and has low energy requirements.
