These rolls rotate through no more than a single rotation on cutting a length of strip while the strip travels between these rollers. The angle between the cutter for cutting the leading end and for cutting the rer end of the strip length is less than half turn. This arrangement ensures that each of these cutters passes through a cutting position regardless of whether a leading or rear end of the strip is to be cut. The cutters can be used also for cutting the leading end of the strip for trimming purposes without making a separating cut along the strip.
