Monoaxially drawn thermoplastics packaging is made by extruding monofilament and/or multifilament, then monoaxially hot drawing, rolling and chilling under stress, while on the rollers. The matl. which may be hot-shrunk, is used for packaging either directly, or as mesh or weave. Specif. polyethylene is monoaxially drawn at 105-132 degrees C, hot shrunk at 105-250 degrees C, whereas corresp. temps. for polypropylene are 165 degrees and 165-250 degrees C, resp.
