Removing bulges and dents from sheets metal by resistance heating - esp. defects in steel and aluminium car body panels

A heating device is for the localised heating of steel and non-ferrous metals by electric resistance heating, pref. using an E-I core as transformer with tappings on the sec. side so that various voltages can be obtd. to correspond with the thickness of the sheet-metal and the performance required. Both electrodes are pref. contained in one handle so that no clamps are required, i.e. the electric circuit is made by pressing the one handle against the metal sheet, and the appts. is pref. fitted with two hooks around which the cable can be coiled. The deformed area is heated and, as it cannot expand due to the surrounding cold metal it tends to resume its original shape; it is then water- or air-cooled.
