Infra-red emission detection system - has telescope with an I.R. photodetector in its focal plane

A controlled variable mechanical oscillator is coupled with a mirror, so that the image formed by the telescope describes a closed loop, whose shaped and amplitude may be changed; display means comprise a scanning system which generates a display track representing at least a part of the above loop. The display track is modulated by the i.r. photo-detector output signal. The mechanical oscillator has electromagnets energised by two phase coupled signals, whose relative phases and amplitudes are adjustable; the mirror is mounted on a cantilevered strip. The scanning system has a second mirror, rigidly connected with the above.
