A rotary machine for brushing furs and skins has a drum with a dia. between 140 and 190 cm rotating at a speed of between 13 and 23 r.p.m. these conditions being considered optimal to prevent the skins from curling up. The drum is of wire mesh cage-like construction, which can be externally belt driven, and carries fixed silk brushes attached to the sides of the drum inside, and has a curved radial blade extending from its inside, with abrush mounted along its edge, parallel to the axis of rotation, and further roller type brushes are similarly mounted on the inside. The periphery of the drum carries a sliding cover matching the periphery, moving between U-section slider, with screws for securing it in an open or closed position, which may be interconnected with the electric drive circuit so that power is cut off when the door is open.
