The hollow rotor, with cutters inside, is for reducing the width of the thick root end of tree trunks or fallen trees so that they can be passed through a bark stripper. The flat round plate, with radial cut-outs, is at the entry end, and there is an encompassing column with one or more blades pointing radially inwards in front of the rotor entry end, extending to a peripheral line running through the blade radial outer parts. Clinging bark strips, splinters and other pieces of wood collected between trunk and rotor opening are shaved off as the rotor turns round, in conjunction with the edges of the cut-outs. This saves the rotor from being hindered in its main function of dealing with root ends.
