Universal drive electric bus - with universal fitting pantograph and internal battery and electronic control applied in motion

The two parallel overhead wires are wiped by a universal pantograph whose wiper has five contact strips in two lines at 90 deg. to the wires, with the two rear contacts bridging the gaps between the three front ones. An automatic electronic selector control and a bank of rectifiers ensures that the polarity to the traction motor is correct, with the drive controlled by thyristors. The internal battery is charged during the time the vehicle is powered from overhead lines and drives it when there are no overhead lines available. The centre contact serves as a control strip to operate the horizontal servo to keep the wiper centrally on the wires. The pantograph can be applied without stopping the vehicle and provides a flexible trolleybus system.
