The invention relates to a drive mechanism for a record player, which comprises an electric motor working with a graduated disc, a turntable driven by intermediate links and fine and coarse adjustment of the rate of revolution of the turntable. The drive link may impinge on a support pulley or may lie freely against the driving belt which runs on the support pulley and drives the turntable. The link is in two conical sections which form frictional contact with the drive belt. The support pulley is arranged on an auxiliary chassis which can be moved in stages through a groove in a ratchet box along a vertical axis so as to adjust the rate of revolution of the turntable.
