The sales display device for the slide fasteners or other articles which are displayed in vertical packets comprises several stepped rows of pockets, with the height of the rows selected so that the tops of the articles are level with the edge of the pocket of the row above. The steps may have the same or different depth and height and the individual compartments or pockets can have different vertical depth to accommodate articles of different lengths. The side walls of the steps can be provided with labels or markings. Pref. the offset retaining surfaces for the steps are part of a prefabricated element.
