The speech signal evaluation circuit has a delay line network. The outputs of the n stages have connections from which signals delayed by the separating amplifiers can be taken off. In dependence on the desired delay, the input of the network or the output of one of the stages of the network is connected via a separating amplifier with a connection for the reference signal, and this stage is arranged in the signal path before the stages for the delayed signal. Preferably each network has 42 stages, and the outputs of stages 22 to 42 have connections for tapping off delayed signals. The output of stage 21 has a connection which gives the reference signal and can be combined successively with the outputs of stages 31 to 42, to give a signal with stepwise increasing delay. The number of connections and separating amplifiers is reduced.
