Mounting for fuse in light switch units - esp. suitable for dimmers etc. installed in wall switch

Separate fusing of light switch units is difficult because there is little space in the mounting box. With dimmers, P.C.B. fuses which are available increase the depth of the unit, when a heat sink already takes much space. A method of fuse mounting in the surface of the unit is provided so that the glass or ceramic fuse projects into the mounting box perpendicular to the unit surface. The fuse contacts are U-formed sprung contacts which are fixed at the upper and lower ends of the cylindrical hole in which the fuse is located. The fuse is held in place with its end caps in contact with the sprung contacts by means of a two-legged clip of insulating material e.g. plastic. The fuse may be placed below the control knob of a dimmer.
