The design of a needle selection system in a circular knitter, for selected needles to be tripped by the lock mechanism, has a control cam rotating on an axis running across the needle axis, for the needle but to be selected individually for the respective needle to be activated or moved to the inoperative position, the control cam being synchronised with the operation of the lock and the needle bed. The system provides a simple needle selection process, individually, according to the pattern requirements.
