The needle selection system for a circular knitter, according to pattern requirements, incorporates an addition butt in the needle structure, to be operated by an additional pattern cam so that selected needles, or groups of needles, can be given additional selected operation. Designed particularly for knitting stocking tights, the system increases the selection range of the needles, to improve the fully-fashioned shaping of the garment to increase the fit of the tights of the body with better wearer comfort.
