The uninterrupted prodn of tufted carpets in designs unobtainable on any known type of machine is achieved on a line of synchronised needle tufting machines, each having a pattern cylinder giving part of the design, and all linked by a pin conveyor feeding the ground fabric at full width through the machines at a constant speed controlled by a series of spiked rollers.
