摘要
The bottom of the anchor shaft has a cross member fitted to it on which flat flukes are pivoted. The upper ends of the flukes divide on either side of the shaft and join to form ridges pointing away from the shaft, and form a closed throat about the shaft. The anchor digs itself into the sea bed when dragged along and has no projecting flukes to snag other ground lines. To raise the anchor the ship steams over the chain and pulls it in. When the chain is vertical the anchor is levered out of the seabed with a min. of resistance. In the operating position the anchor provides a secure hold by digging in further with increasing tension.
