Travelling sprinkler and sprayer has a chassis with a revolving sprinkler, hose drum, and winch cable drum with a liquid operated rotary drive, with the cables free end anchored in the ground so that the apparatus automatically pulls itself forward. The drive consists of a hydraulic cylinder driven by the liquid taken from the feed hose. Pref. the cylinder is double acting, and the strokes of the piston rod rotate the cable drum via a stepping mechanism. The forward speed is increased several times and the sensitive worm drive is eliminated. The sprinkler nozzles are fed from the exhaust side of the cylinder and run horizontally along each side.
