The fitting has an axially narrow ring of the same internal diameter as the piping to be tapped and is permanently held in position between the end flanges on two lengths of the piping by bolts clamping the flanges on to the fitting. The ring has a radial boss contg. the outlet leading to a connection e.g. a flange for mounting a manometer or the like. The confronting faces of the ring and the flanges, as well as the interior of the piping and the outlet, have a corrosion resistant lining such as would be disturbed by destructive methods of tapping.
