Control for driving simulator - has two variable speed orthogonal drives for camera over model depending on model scale

The driving simulator has a TV camera mounted on a special support so that it can move in two orthogonal directions using a travelling gantry system. An optical extension is mounted in front of the camera objective with a mirror at the bottom. This enables the camera to view the scale model of the simulator in any direction and in simulated positions for drivers and pedestrians. The simulated image is displayed on a video monitor, while the movement of the camera is controlled by a control console. The speed control for the two orthogonal directions is derived from sine-cosine function generators, with the electric drive motors coupled to variable resistors to alter the scale of the drive w.r.t. scale of the model.
