An end plate for a motor is secured to cylindrical motor casing and supports the armature shaft via a ball bearing concentrically disposed within the end plate. Radially outside of the bearing on the end plate there is a cylindrical shoulder which cooperates with an annular groove in the casing to trap two arcuate sector plates. Bolts then pass through the end plate and engage in threaded bores in the sector plates thus retaining the end plate on the engine casing and preventing relative station of the end plate and casing. The bolts can also trap rubber mountings onto support structure for the motor. The arrangement avoids long bolts passing through the motor casing to secure both end plates and avoids the necessity for thick motor casings.
