The guide plate (2) is secured to the rail sleeper through a central fixing bolt (4). Passing through a groove in the guide plate from top to bottom are elements (14 to 17) made from an electrically conductive material. The elements are strip form and are U-shaped and have an edge (8) with a tongue (27). The guide plate is of a plastics with the electric contacts embedded in it during manufacture. USE/ADVANTAGE - Ensures an earth contact between rail and the sleeper.
