The power of the circulating pump for the heat carrier is controlled in dependence on the difference between the feed and return of carrier, being reduced as the difference becomes smaller. Preferably a pump of constant delivery is used, and behind it a partial stream of carrier is diverted and fed in again before the pump, with its amt. controlled in dependence on the temp. difference. The feed temp. is measured directly after the point where the partial stream is diverted. Automatic control may be effected in dependence on the external temp.
