The nail shank carries a stop element, which limits the driving home. The stop is formed and located, so that after driving home, part of the nail between stop and head projects, to allow engagement of a nail extraction tool. The stop element is formed by a sleeve, surrounding the shank. The upper sleeve edge is in contact with the nail head, while its lower end has a funnel-shaped expansion, to form a stop surface. A simpler arrangement can consist of a small apertured plate washer seating on a taper running toward the nail head.
