A cylindrical container is mounted on top of the rear or front bumper and contains a roll of material on a spring loaded spindle, with a bar attached to the leading edge. The bar and material are pulled out of the container and stretched over the car and secured on the bumper on the other end, leaving the material to protect the car. A more compact mounting would be to have the container mounted inside the hollow bumper profile. Alternatively two smaller lengths of material are contained in rollers at each end of the car. Securing tapes on the leading edges provide simple fastenings.
