The pliers are for clamping together or opening a gapped, sprung circlip with tension holes or grooves at its adjoining ends. The claw parts of the pliers have projections at their ends which are almost at right-angles to the claw parts proper for working in conjunction with the tension holes or grooves. The one shank of the pliers has a bearing pin with a head at the point where it is swivelable with the other shank, which pin works in conjunction with a groove running crossways in the connecting part of the other shank. This arrangement allows the plier shanks to be brought together, to lie next to each other, and to cross each other.
