Slurry agitation using immersed pump - having rotating arm with jets attached to it driven from pump

A slurry in which the suspended particles are heavier than the liquid is agitated by an immersed pump to which is attached a rotating arm in which are inclined jets. The arm is set in motion by the reaction from the jets and it is rigidly connected to the pump. Both are attached to a vertical shaft which is mounted in an upper bearing outside the tank and in a foot bearing at the base of the tank. Esp. used for mixing slurries and suspensions in the effluent from paper mills. Mechanical agitation using impellors, turbines or screws can be used or immersed pump used to recirculate the liquid and thus provide the mixing required.
