The odour extractor for built-on kitchens has a suction hopper with a filter to retain grease, fitted above the location to be extracted from, and also screening the location with an air curtain directed from below to above. A back wall carries the hopper and forms an air shaft. The air sucked through the hopper is conducted downward through the shaft and then deflected upward again to form the air curtain. The fan unit to be fitted into the airstream circuit is located in the space of the furniture unit, preferably in its base. Heat losses in cold weather are reduced.
