Lathe comprises a toolpost disposed as a movable carriage on a bed and a cross slide both movements being controlled by servo motors respectively. Mounted on two respective sides of the toolpost are a pair of turrets one of which carries a variety of boring tools disposable into an operative position along the rotational axis of the chuck and workpiece and the other of which is movable towards or away from the workpiece, independently of the tool post, on an auxiliary slide to perform turning operations.
