The reaction is effected in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst contg. =1 metals of atomic number 24-29 and weak org. acids, at 35-150 degrees C and =40 atmos. The prods. are inter. for dyes and parasiticides and are used in the synthesis, hardening or stabilising of polyesters.
