摘要
The centering attachment is used for preparing centre holes on workpieces on lathes with conventional centre drills without removing the tailstock centre and replacing it with a drilling chuck. The centre is left into the tailstock during the centre drilling process and the turning process can continue afterwards without resetting the tailstock. The workpiece is held in the chuck on a lathe. The tailstock with the live centre is moved out of the way. The centre drill is held in a transverse bore in a square or hexagonal bar clamped into the toolpost by bolts and it is moved across the workpiece face along a line passing through the workpiece rotating centre. The support bar can accommodate a number of different size centre drills. For example, a hexagonal bar can accommodate six different sizes of centre drills for drilling centre holes into different sized workpieces.
