A centrifugal governor has flyweights thrown outwardly, in response to the speed of an engine driven shaft, against the forst of a regulating spring. Outward movement of the flyweights moves a control rod to decrease the fuel supply to the engine thus also reducing the speed of the shaft. Tension of the spring is controlled by a movable piston whose nominal position is controlled by an adjustable spool valve which admits engine oil pressure from a duct to a chamber above the piston. Drop of the engine oil pressure due to bearing deterioration or filter blockage causes a second reference spring loaded piston to throttle a duct and this in conjunction with leakage from chamber resets the governor to a lower speed of engine.
